FotoFlexer is a detailed online photo editor that allows users to conveniently customize their favorite photographs. The application allows users to access photos uploaded to PhotoBucket, My Space, Facebook, Flickr, Picasa and other popular websites to edit using FotoFlexer. The website includes a long list of feature options. Users can apply unique effects to stylize photos or add words with eye-catching fonts. FotoFlexer also includes shapes and images that can be placed on top of photos as well as a doodling mode that lets users draw freestyle on their images. Images can also be distorted and retouched. Advanced features include curves, recolor, morph and layer functions. FotoFlexer is available in a number of languages, including English, German, Spanish, Russian, Portuguese, Danish, French, Italian and Chinese.
FotoFlexer was created by Arbor Labs and a team of students and alumni from UC Berkeley and an MIT alum. In March of 2008, FotoFlexer was used as the official embedded image editor for the PhotoBucket website. It is currently the embedded editor for Piczo and Tiny Pic as well.
FotoFlexer is appealing because of the large variety of editing options it offers users. The website includes a list of options that range from freestyle doodling to shapes, fonts and distortions. The application also lets users pull images from many popular photo sharing websites to edit and share again.
FotoFlexer.com uses a gentle yellow and blue color scheme that gives it a very pleasant appearance. The homepage features the camera silhouette icon beside the site name in blue, outlined in white. Users can also find screenshots and sample photos that can be edited. The user interface is very well organized, with color icons that run across the top of the page. The solid blue and white header bar is found throughout the site. The user can also click through white tabs at the top of the photo editor to access different tool categories, including beauty, distort, layers, animations, decorate, effects and geek.
A new user can begin by clicking the yellow “Upload Photo” button found in the upper, right hand corner of the homepage. The user can then select from one of three sample photos, upload a photo from their computer or select a photo from one of the web services listed. After editing the image, the user can choose to share the photo on the web or save it on their computer. FotoFlexer does not require a login to edit and save photos.
FotoFlexer welcomes all users to edit images for free. There are no subscription fees or other costs for using the site. Of course the user may have the option of ordering prints through one of the third party photo sharing services they use with FotoFlexer. FotoFlexer itself does not charge a fee for its services.
FotoFlexer would be a great add-on to anyone needing make quick changes to images. The fact that FotoFlexer allows image editing without registering for the site makes it a great choice for people who simply want to tweak the photo or remove a blemish. Some of the additional text features and the neat effect (like neon or blueprint) make FotoFlexer a fun toy to use every day.
